Dinner Rolls
1/3 c. sugar
2 c. very hot water
Gently stir sugar in water until the sugar has dissolved.
Then add:
2 T. dry yeast
Let sit for about 5 minutes.
Add:
1/3 c. butter (melted)
2 1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c nonfat dry milk
1 egg
2 c. flour
Using a sturdy wire whisk, stir with all your might until the dough is smooth.
Add 2 more cups of flour and stir.
Let rise for about 2 hours. When ready to roll out rolls, add about 2 more cups of flour, or as needed to make a good stiff dough that doesn't stick to the counter.
When ready to roll out, divide the dough into 4 equal balls. Roll each ball out until it is a flat circle, then cut the dough into 8 equal wedges, like a pizza. Roll the triangles up into crescents and line up on a greased cookie sheet. Let the rolls rise for at least 1/2 hour. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes, checking every 2 minutes after that until they're brown enough for your taste.
